The Australian newspaper on April 3 reported details of the latest research by the International Whaling Commission (IWC), the intergovernmental body responsible for the conservation of whales and the management of whaling, into the global population of the Antarctic minke whale, the results of which had emerged ahead of the official presentation of the research at the IWC’s 60th annual meeting in June in Santiago (the capital of Chile).
