Hovik Hoveyan was forced to resign as Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs after reports emerged that he and his son had physically attacked a group of electrical workers in the capital, Yerevan, after a power failure at his home. Hoveyan resigned following a closed meeting of his party, the ruling Country of Law Party (Orinants Erkir).
Hoveyan had served in the post since April 2004 when he replaced Tamara Pogosyan, who had been appointed in June 2003 [see p. 45486; for most recent government change see p. 46084].
